Danny Kalash

Class of 2014, University of Florida, College of Dentistry

Danny Kalash graduated with honors from the University of Michigan with a Bachelor of Science and is currently in his final year of the DMD program at the University of Florida. Danny’s interests are in Public Health and Pediatric Dentistry, particularly in addressing oral health disparities and in understanding how our social realties shape oral health outcomes.

He has worked on several projects with Dr. Luciana Shaddox investigating different aspects of the immune system response to periodontal therapy in African American children with localized aggressive periodontal disease. He presented the results from his projects at several international conferences and received awards for his work. Currently Danny is involved in a project focused on early diagnosis of periodontal disease in children.

He is a recipient of the ADCFP ADEA/Gies Fellowship focused on introducing dental students to a career in academia.
